"Marble" Paint Ornaments

Hey y'all!  Making Christmas ornaments has been a fun tradition between my son and myself.  Last year we made Glittered Snowball Ornaments and this year we made "Marble" Paint Ornaments.

Supplies:

  • Clear plastic or glass ornaments
  • 3 bottles of acrylic paint
  • Ribbon
  • 1 kindergartner who likes to be in every picture that you take (optional)
Step 1:
Use one color of paint and squeeze into the empty ornament, letting it drip color down the sides.  Do three drips with this color.

Step 2:
Repeat step 1 with your other two colors.  The paint will have dripped down and there will be a pool of paint at the bottom of the ornament.
Replace the top of the ornament and shake.  Shake it until the colors swirl together (just a few seconds) and make a marbling or tie-dye effect.

Step 4:
You can personalize the ornaments with your family name or year with puff paint.  Then cut 8 inches of ribbon and tie onto the ornament.  We kept one special one for our tree and gave the rest away for presents!

Free Simple Hat Knitting Pattern

I have received many compliments on this hat (and just as many requests to make them).  But it is really so simple that even a novice could have success.  You will need size 7 circular and double pointed needles and a yarn needle.  The key to knitting up this hat so quickly is using Lion Brand Baby's First which is a bulky cotton-blend yarn.

Cast on 72

P 2 rounds
K 10 rounds

Using a yarn needle, run end of yarn through the last remaining stitches, pulling into the inside of the hat.  Secure the end of the yarn and cut the tail.
